The IGNITE Program helps veterans safely confront and release suppressed emotions through guided writing and creative reflection. Blending honesty, creativity, and self-expression, participants transform unspoken anger and pain into clarity, understanding, and growth.
Through structured prompts and optional art components, veterans explore experiences that can be difficult to express in traditional settings. Each letter—written or visual—becomes a meaningful act of release and renewal, turning emotion into empowerment and purpose.
ILLUMINATE is a trauma-informed creative wellness program designed to help veterans acknowledge, express, and release emotion through guided writing and art. In a calm, supportive group setting, participants use journaling prompts and reflective artmaking to transform unspoken thoughts into clarity, connection, and peace.
Veterans write an “unofficial letter” — a personal message never meant to be sent — and then layer those words beneath imagery of light, nature, or renewal on canvas. This symbolic process turns emotion into insight and honors the courage of self-expression.
ILLUMINATE is ideal for veterans seeking a supportive, non-clinical outlet to process strong emotions—helping turn silence into understanding, and reflection into renewal.
ILLUMINATE is designed for veterans seeking a reflective, creative wellness experience rather than a therapy-based intervention.
This program is open to self-referrals and may also be recommended by a therapist, case manager, or peer support specialist when appropriate.
Participation is best suited for veterans whose PCL-5 (Post-Traumatic Stress Checklist) score falls within the Low range (0–19)—indicating minimal or well-managed PTSD symptoms. Veterans in this range benefit most from programs that emphasize personal insight, connection, and emotional renewal through art rather than trauma processing.
Those with moderate to high PCL-5 scores (20+) are encouraged to explore TT1P’s therapist-supported programs, such as RECLAIM or IGNITE, which provide greater structure and collaborative clinical oversight.
While additional assessments such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, and WHO-5 are optional, they may be submitted if available to help TT1P ensure the program aligns with the participant’s current wellness goals.
